The return to Kansas City

Sadly, our fairytale vacation in Kentucky did not last forever. Luckily, Shawn was able to drive us back to Kansas City and stay a week until Grandma Jen arrived. He spoiled me with an evening at Cheesecake Factory and a date night out for my birthday this year. When Shawn left, Caleb and Grandma spent every day upstairs doing school work while Aubrey snoozed and snuggled in her Grandma's arms. Mommy was busy trying to get back into the groove of dental school and was welcomed home by her beautiful children and wonderful mom that had savory meals and delightful desserts prepared every evening (not to mention a clean house)! Even Grampy Wally surprised us all with a visit to KC to meet his new granddaughter and celebrate Grandma Jen Jen's birthday. Caleb and I took Grandma on a tea-themed birthday date beginning with lunch at Classic Cup where we used our best manners and lunch etiquitte, then off to TeaDrops for some bubble tea and cupcakes!

Christmas in our new home

This year, we enjoyed Christmas in our new home with our new family. We enjoyed baking a birthday cake for baby Jesus and decorating cookies to leave out for Santa. Caleb insisted we leave out chocolate milk because Santa, "gets tired of white milk all night long". After mass, we sang happy birthday to Jesus and read The Night Before Christmas (as we have every Christmas Eve since Caleb's birth). Grandma Jen and Grampy Wally had made Caleb and Aubrey a special audio enhanced version of the story since we were not able to make it to New Mexico during Christmas this year. Caleb and Aubrey exchanged gifts and we decided it will be an annual tradition for Caleb to give Aubrey a snowglobe and Aubrey to give Caleb a nutcracker. This year, Aubrey received a 2009 Mickey and Minny snowglobe Caleb discovered at the Disney store and Caleb received a true blue University of Kentucky nutcracker! After our family gift exchange, we tried every bribe under the moon to put our ecstatic toddler to bed. Caleb could hardly contain himself waiting for Santa to come! He even heard bells ringing in the distance as Santa and his reindeer flew near. Our sleepy boy did not actually fall asleep until almost 11pm! The next morning Caleb woke mommy, daddy, and attempted to wake Aubrey and we all opened gifts downstairs from under the tree and our stockings. Later that day, we drove to Monticello to visit Nana, Papa and the Crabtree family where the cousins had a blast exchanging gifts and playing with their new toys. Aubrey, Jaedyn and Brylee dressed up in their matching dresses under Nana's tree.

It's been a while, but she was worth the wait!

We apologize for not updating the blog as of late but the Peavie family has been busy with the newest addition to our family, Aubrey Isabelle Peavie! She was scheduled to be induced Thursday, December 10 so that mommy would be able to spend at least one month with her before her return to school. Aubrey suprised us all when mommy's water spontaneously ruptured at 6am Wednesday, December 9th! Daddy loaded up the car and called Nana and Aunt Crystal, then dressed Caleb and drove us (as quickly as he could in morning rush hour traffic). We tried to rush up to labor and delivery only to be greeted by five other people in the elevator, all needing to stop before the ninth floor. Needless to say, when we arrived in labor and delivery, the nurses were quick to get mommy in a room when they saw she was just about ready to pop out a baby! Because of the wonderful H1N1 virus, Caleb wasn't able to be in the room and Nana and Crystal were still on their way! Daddy stayed with Caleb and mommy registered and got her epidural while she waited on Daddy. Nana and Crystal arrived at 10am and mommy was ready to go...9cm and Aubrey politely waited for her father before she made her grand appearance. After four little pushes, this lovely lady was ready for the world! Aubrey was born at 10:50am weighing 8lb.0oz and was 21inches long! Most of her weight was carried in her adorable chubby cheeks! Caleb spent the night in Monticello and mommy and Aubrey were released from the hospital the very next day! When we arrived home, Caleb was overwhelmed with joy and could not believe his sister was finally here after 9months of patiently waiting! He is an EXCELLENT big brother. He loves to kiss his sister and says, "It's ok, bubby's right here" whenever she cries. Caleb holds his sister very softly, helps mommy and daddy change diapers (excellent diaper runner), and even gives her pacifier to her when it falls out! The two seem to go together like peanut butter and jelly! Daddy was able to take a whole week off and we loved every minute of it! Aunt Jess came to visit and help out--thanks Aunt Jess for everything!! Nana and Papa drove up to help out too and so Papa could meet his new grandaughter. Aubrey had her first pediatrician's visit Monday with Dr. Stine. She is now a whopping 8lb. 5oz and seems to be in perfect health! This girl knows how to eat, that's for sure! Daddy went back to work this week and so far, so good. Mom is surviving with two babies at home, thanks to my well-behaved kiddos and WONDERFUL supportive husband that comes home after a long day of work and takes on a second shift helping with baths, feedings, dinnertime and bedtime! We are in heaven here in Union, Kentucky and are so very blessed with our newest addition!

Cincinnati Birthday, Halloween and beginning of November

Life would not be complete without a birthday celebration with daddy. Caleb and I were able to jump on a plane to Cincinnati and stay with Shawn for Halloween weekend. Here are the highlights of the trip....

We enjoyed Benton Farms pumpkin patch, especially this pony

Yikes! The Jack-o-latern ate my boys!

We decided to take a picture with our tour guide

That night, a big strong T-rex emerged from his room and was so excited (see his expression) to go trick-or-treating with his daddy

We wanted to make our new home festive for all the goons and goblins that night

Daddy and dino ready to go hunt the neighborhood for their prey (aka: CANDY)

The t-rex turned into a little boy at the stroke of 7:30 and he decided to help mommy pass out candy

Check out my loot guys! Good thing mommy will be a dentist this May!

The next day, we decorated for a dino birthday party part 2

The party crew (Caleb the birthday boy, Jaedyn, Brylee the birthday girl, and Colter)

Spongebob and Disney Princess cupcakes, along with an ice cream cake...hooray for sugar!

Blow all those candles out! Wait, how did the cake get wet??

Finally, Caleb was able to see his big birthday present from mommy and daddy, check out his dino bedroom equipt with a big boy bed, nightstand, dresser and dino decor.

When we returned to the big KC, we decided to take advantage of the nice fall weather (which did NOT last by the way) and went to the zoo with the Grife family...

Uh, is there a kangaroo making bunny ears behind me?

And we completed our zoo trip by feeding the children to a giant snake

This weekend, Caleb got to hang out with the Ararat Shrine Circus clowns at his first ever circus...he brought home an out of control light saber courtesy of his best buddy, Wen.
